Terms of Service.

These terms are the agreement between you and Pyren LLC, a Michigan limited liability company, for the Pyren iOS application and related services. By installing or using Pyren, you agree to them.

1. The service

Pyren is a personal task-management iOS app with AI-assisted capture, planning, and review features. We provide it on an as-available basis, evolve it over time, and reserve the right to change or discontinue features.

2. Your account

You sign in to Pyren with your Apple ID via Sign in with Apple. You're responsible for keeping your Apple ID secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your Pyren account, revoke Sign in with Apple from your Apple ID settings and email privacy@pyren.app.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pyren. If you're between 13 and the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have a parent or legal guardian's permission.

3. Subscriptions, free trial, and payment

Tiers and pricing

Pyren offers a free 14-day trial followed by an auto-renewing subscription:

Standard Monthly — $12.99 / month, auto-renewing monthly
Standard Annual — $89.99 / year, auto-renewing annually

Prices may vary by region; the current price for your region is shown on the in-app paywall and on the App Store at the time of purchase.

Free trial — once per Apple ID

The 14-day free trial is available once per Apple ID. Reinstalling the app, signing out and back in, or creating a new device does not reset the trial. After the trial elapses without an active subscription, paid features are gated until you subscribe.

Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Apple will charge your Apple ID for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. The renewal price will match the current published price for your region; Apple will notify you of any price increase before charging.

Managing or canceling

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through Apple's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS, or at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep paid features until then.

Refunds

All purchases are made through the App Store and are subject to Apple's refund policy. Pyren cannot directly issue refunds for App Store purchases. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

4. AI features

Pyren uses third-party AI models (currently Anthropic's Claude family and Apple's on-device foundation models) to structure captures, decompose projects, generate daily plans, and chat. AI output:

May be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation. Don't rely on it for decisions where mistakes have material consequences — verify medical, legal, financial, and safety-related output before acting on it.
Is not professional advice.
Is generated probabilistically and may differ between requests, even for identical inputs.

Each subscription tier includes a monthly quota of AI actions. We may throttle, downgrade, or temporarily suspend AI features if you exceed reasonable usage or our hard cost caps.

5. Your content and ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create in Pyren — your tasks, projects, captures, and any text you generate. You grant Pyren a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you (e.g. sending it to the AI when you ask, storing it in our backend for sync, displaying it in your account). We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not share it with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Use Pyren for anything illegal or to harm others.
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app or backend (except where this restriction is unenforceable under applicable law).
Use the service to send spam, phishing attempts, malware, or content that infringes others' rights.
Resell, redistribute, or operate Pyren as a service for third parties without our written permission.
Submit content designed to manipulate, jailbreak, or extract proprietary information from our AI providers.
Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service in ways that exceed normal personal use.

7. Intellectual property

The Pyren app, the Pyren name and wordmark, the brand identity, and our backend code and AI prompts are owned by Pyren LLC and protected by copyright and trademark law. Nothing in these terms transfers any IP to you, except the limited license to use the app while your subscription is active.

8. Third-party services

Pyren depends on services from Apple, Cloudflare, Anthropic, RevenueCat, and Sentry. Their availability and terms govern their respective services. We're not responsible for outages, errors, or changes in third-party services that affect Pyren.

9. Service changes and termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Pyren at any time, with or without notice. We will give reasonable advance notice for material changes that affect paid subscribers (e.g. removing a paid feature) and provide a pro-rata refund where required by law.

You may stop using Pyren at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or use the service in a way that creates legal, security, or financial risk for us — typically with notice, unless the violation requires immediate action.

10. Disclaimers

Pyren is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or accuracy of AI-generated output. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will not be lost.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pyren LLC and its members, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or use, arising out of or in connection with your use of Pyren — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to Pyren in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid Pyren during that period, or (b) USD $50. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Pyren LLC against any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, your violation of applicable law, or content you submit through the service.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of Pyren will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you and Pyren consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.

14. Apple-specific terms

Pyren is licensed (not sold) to you for use only under the Apple App Store's Standard EULA (or any custom EULA we publish; these terms supplement it). You acknowledge that:

These terms are between you and Pyren LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Pyren.
If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price; beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation.
Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.

15. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll notify users in-app and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. If you disagree with a change, your remedy is to cancel your subscription and stop using Pyren.
